The dismissive and cursory manner in which albums such as There's A Riot Goin' On, Inner Visions and What's Going On were reviewed was amazing considering the regularity with which all three albums subsequently went on to appear in the lists of all time great albums compiled by the very same journalists who had ignored them on their original release.
